Brief Information
San Agustin was formally declared a municipality on June 17, 1967 through R.A 4903 during the incumbency of the late Honorable Mayor Prudencio Ronquillo. The municipality, which is comprised of thirteen (13) barangays, was renamed from Oteiza to San Agustin in honor of its patron saint. At a glance, San Agustin bore the name Oteiza since the time of the Spaniards when it was still a barrio of Lianga. The municipality underwent an unusually unstable political process on its road to townhood.
San Agustin is bounded in the east by the Pacific Ocean, in the west is Agusan del Sur while in the south is Lianga and North is Marihatag and San Miguel. Its total Land Area is 27, 728.52 hectares with a total population of 19, 011 and total household of 3, 491. The primary products that are abundant here are Palay and Coconut and secondly, the fishes, cassava, banana, abaca and corn.
